Cell Line Description
Used in RSV transformation studies. Demonstrates rapid thymidine kinase (TK) activity following induction of simian, adeno and papovavirus infections. Derived from a male adult African Green monkey kidney. Cells grow rapidly and form monolayers of fibroblast-like cells that support the growth of SV40. Chromosome number shifts have been observed at high passage levels.

Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:3 to 1:6 i.e. seeding at 5x103 -2x104 cells/cm² using 0.05% trypsin.
Recommended culture conditions: 5% CO₂; 37°C.

DMEM + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).
