Jane Burton
Jane has over 30 years’ experience of working with high consequence pathogens. After completing her PhD on improved detection methods for Bacillus anthracis in environmental samples, Jane developed molecular methods for the detection of haemorrhagic fever viruses, supporting the Rare and Imported Pathogens Laboratory. Jane then worked for 8 years in High Containment Microbiology growing and characterising Hazard Group 4 viruses before joining NCPV in 2021. Recent global disease outbreaks of disease caused by new and re-emerging viruses have emphasised the value of the NCPV for disease preparedness. Jane’s role is to ensure that NCPV remains useful and relevant.
