ECACC: Meet the team

Have you ever wondered what our team looks like here at ECACC? We've featured a few of our team members below so you can get to know more about the people who help make ECACC one of the premier collections of authenticated cell cultures in the world. 


Amy ShacklefordAmy Shackleford 

Quality Control Scientist

Amy graduated from the University of Leeds in June 2021. Working in ECACC is her first graduate job and she started her role as a Quality Control Scientist in September 2021. 






Callum RobertsonCallum Robertson

Cell Banking Scientist

During his role in the Culture Collections Marketing team as Scientific Information Officer, Callum was seconded to help with the UKHSA COVID testing service provided during the initial wave of the pandemic. Callum then decided to use his laboratory skills on a more regular basis and as a result, he applied for a new role as an ECACC Banking Scientist at Culture Collections, joining the team in October 2021. 






Amy MurphyAmy Murphy 

ECACC QC Scientist

Amy graduated from Queens University Belfast in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences with Professional Studies. After graduation she worked as a Research and Development Scientist within the in vitro Diagnostics industry for almost 3 years. Amy moved from Northern Ireland to start her current role as a QC Scientist within the ECACC team at Culture Collections in October 2021. 




Alex ALAlex Ashby-Lumsden

Product and Distribution Manager

Alex is the Product and Distribution Manager for ECACC and has worked for Culture Collections for almost 3 years. He is responsible for commercial aspects of the ECACC catalogue and works closely with distribution partners as well as within the EBiSC project. Outside of the office, Alex likes to spend his time walking around the Hampshire countryside, watching rugby, and going to the gym.






Jim CooperJim Cooper, PhD

ECACC Operational Manager,

Jim is the ECACC Operational Manager and has over 30 years of cell and tissue culture experience from micro-plate to bioreactor scale. His recent work has involved developing in vitro 3D cell culture models for lung disease research. Jim has played a key role at ECACC managing internal and external projects and developing ECACC's cell culture training courses. When he is not in ECACC Jim is likely to be found cycling through the countryside. 




Eleanor StilesEleanor Stiles

Quality Control Lab Technician

Eleanor joined ECACC in November last year as a Quality Control Lab Technician after graduating from the University of Sheffield. As well as loving science, she is also a big reader (especially of fantasy) who enjoys cross-stitching and walking.
